Trump accuses China of ‘election meddling’ (VIDEO)

The president has claimed US intelligence officials suppressed information about a massive breach of American voter data

US President Donald Trump is delivering a primetime White House address on election security, announcing the release of declassified intelligence documents detailing alleged vulnerabilities in America’s voting infrastructure.

Trump accused China of carrying out “the largest compromise of election data in history,” claiming Beijing acquired information on 220 million US voters, including names, addresses, phone numbers and political preferences.

He further alleged that members of the “Deep State” within US intelligence agencies “worked to actively suppress and downplay information about the extent of China’s sinister election meddling.”

“US spy agencies began learning about the compromise of voter registration files in 2020,” Trump said, accusing officials of covering up the alleged breach “from both the president and the American people.”

“Every American deserves to know that when they cast their vote, that vote will be counted accurately,” Trump said, arguing that the existing system “falls catastrophically short” and is dangerously exposed to hacking.

The White House page states that intelligence agencies discovered that data belonging to tens of millions of voters across 18 states had been “bought, stolen, or hacked by China.” The documents were published as Trump spoke and had not yet been independently examined in full.
